初版発行から1年が経っているようですが購入してみました。
この会社の構築ガイドですので表紙買いです。
この会社のサーバー構築ガイドシリーズを読みこなせるなら、メール部分だけに絞って詳細に書いてあるものとなりますので補完するような使い方になっています。
ただし、ディストリビューションに特化していないために置き換えることも必要になります。
使い方としてはサーバー構築ガイドで荒っぽくでも構築しておいた上で本書を読んでメールシステムを理解するようなものと思います。
よってサーバー構築ガイドが手元にあり、基本的なシステムを理解できた方が掘り下げていくには星5個ですが、ディストリビューションに特化できていないところ、初心者がイキナり読んでも難解なだけなので1個減らして星4個です。

1.0 out of 5 stars LDAP周りの説明が酷い, 2007/3/30
この本を見ながらpostfix+LDAPの設定を行ったが、とにかく本の通りに作業が進まない。

・本書内で記述されてるファイルがオフィシャルサイトに無い物がある。
・ファイルが有っても、不完全（途中で切れてる）。
・XML系の設定ファイルは、サイトでエラーが出てダウンロード出来ない。
・設定内容だけ書いてあり、どの設定ファイルを直せば良いのか記述が抜けてる。
・環境設定の仕方が、他誌を参照しろと書いてある箇所が多すぎる。

本書に構築するための手順を期待されている方は、購入しない方が無難です。
有る程度知識の有る方用の本だと思います。

3.0 out of 5 stars この本1冊で全てが出来るって訳では無いけれど, 2007/5/15
他のHOW-TO本と比べると、ＯＳのインストールオプション等も記載されていて良心的だと思いますが。
実際問題は、UNIX特有の、環境が変われば構築も変わる様に、上手く行かない様です。

あと、メールサーバー構築に当たってSMTPやSenderIDなどの個別サービス構築は説明されていますが
細かい設定や、例えば、SMTPサーバーとDomainKeyの連携設定については書かれていないので、全体
としてメールサーバーの構築本というより、それぞれのケースに当てはめて適時読み替える解説本の様な感
じです。
他の本や今までの経験と合わせてそれぞれを組み立てれないと難しいと思います。

ただ、最近のMailシステムに関するHOW-TO本が少ないのも現実なので、DomainKeysやSenderID
についての解説としては、一番判り易い本だと思います。
