　この手の本の場合、言語機能とツールの使い方とをどの程度の配分で記述するかが結構難しいと思います。私は、JBuilder自体の使い方を学ぶ目的で購入しましたが、その目的からすると少し物足りない感じがしました。JBuilderの入門書というより、Javaの入門書と理解すべきでしょう。そういう意味ではタイトルどおりなのですが、JBuilderは多機能な分、直感的には利用しづらいので、JBuilder自体の入門書も期待したいところです。

　ところで、Javaは、言語仕様そのものはC++等に比べたら分かり易いのですが、その分クラスライブラリに個性があったりするので、どの程度の深さでクラスライブラリやメソッド等に言及するかが著者の力量でもあると思います。そういう意味では、ある段階において確実に理解すべきところとそうでないところを明確にしていたり、一方で、入門書には珍しくJListなどのレンダラーにも言及しているなど、手っ取り早くJavaを概観するには適しているのではないでしょうか。また、その手っ取り早さのためにも、JBuilderが都合が良いというところはあると思います。
