同じ時期に出た"はじめよう Ruby on Rails"と見比べてこちらを購入した．
こちらの方が各項目の説明は少ないと思うが私が知りたいと思うことが網羅されている．0 から 1 の情報が欲しい人はこちらの方がいいと思う．
RoR を知らない人は"はじめよう．．．"の方がいいと思う．

初版に誤植はつきものです。
誤植は既に正誤表が出てるし、私はといえばRoR３冊目にこの本を読んで感動しました。

同時期に出たはじめようRoRと比べてわかりにくいというコメントが目立つが、
全文検索からエンタープライズまで解説してある本書と、はじめようRoRを比べたら不公平

とにかく、Rubyはせっかくの日本発の本格的な言語なので、いい本に成長してもらい、
もっといろんな本が発売されてRubyの世界を盛り上げてほしいです。

今後に期待して星４つです。

書店でたまたま手にとったこの本を使って、
Ruby on Rails を学習しています。
（rubyという言語自体も初めてです。）

まとめ：
初心者には不向き。特にRubyの経験がない人には難しい本です。
また、本書が対象としているRailsのバージョンの仕様が
最新バージョンとは大きく違うため、
最新の情報が欲しい方はwebをあたったほうがよいかもしれないです。
＃レビューを見ている方にはいまさらでしょうが。

詳細：
１．Web系のチュートリアルにもかかわらず・・・。
説明が大まかで画面キャプチャが少ない。
ひとつずつ確認しながら進めたい人には不向きかも知れません。

２．正誤表やソースコードが公開されているが・・・。
ある箇所ではヌルポが発生しましたし、他にも怪しいところがあるような。

３．対象としているRails のバージョンは1.1だが・・・。
チュートリアルを見ながら素直に進めると2.0.2がインストールされますが、
1.1からは大分Railsの仕様が変わっているため、めちゃくちゃ苦戦します。
（本の中にruby, gem, Rails のバージョンくらい書いておいて欲しかったかも。）

４．「徹底攻略」というだけあり、適用範囲は広そう。
ただ、現時点ですでにRailsの仕様がガラッと変わっているので
最新のバージョンをどこまでカバーできるかは疑問。
