アプリケーションエンジニアですが
PHPとはどーゆーもので
何ができるのか知りたくて本書を手に取りました。

Linuxに関する知識も薄く
まずは動作環境を作るのに一苦労すると覚悟していましたが
Windows上でも動作環境を作れる配慮もあり→XAMPP
導入部分でつまづくことはありませんでした。

PHPの文法については別途情報源が必要になると思いますが
サンプルが実用的で
短いものから少しずつ複雑になっていくので
何かしら言語をマスターしているPGであれば問題ありません。
私自身、PHPに関してまったく無知でしたが
文法についてサンプルを追っていく過程で困ることはありませんでした。

価格も本の厚さもほどよく
【PHPで何ができるのか】【どーゆー所で使われるのか】
を知りたい方には最適かと。
既にPHPを仕事や趣味で活用されている方にも
役立つサンプルが多いと思います。

効率的なPHPプログラミングの方法を悩んでいる方に最適の一冊。

オブジェクト指向のクラスについての説明も分かりやすく、PEARやSmartyをうまく組み合わせ利用することで、とってもラクができる。
こういう本を探していたので、ありがたい。

MVCを意識したフレームワークが、いろいろ役に立ちそう。

すごい本です。PHPを多少かじった後、プロレベルのプログラムに到達するノウハウ本です。３００ページ程度ですが、大事なことが過不足なく書かれています。あとは自分で調べていけます。
職業柄、技術本は山ほど読みますが、これだけ必要な技術の勘所をコンパクトにうまくまとめきれている本はなかなかありません。この本だけでオブジェクト指向、PEARの使い方、MVCフレームワークの作り方と演習ができてしまうのです。
みなさん簡単にフレームワークとか、MVCモデルとかいいますが、本当にフレームワークの意味を理解しながら使っていますか？単に手順だけを追ってませんか？バグを出すとどこでなにが起きたかさっぱりわからなくないですか？この本がひそかに主張している最小限のフレームワークはシニアな現役プログラマーだから書けたことだし、私は賞賛します。
勉強になります。人に教えたくないくらい、絶対に買いです。
