文庫本一冊で小学校から社会人までの常識を、苦痛なく網羅できる、こんな本を探していました。すっかり日本の歴史は忘れちゃいました、私ですが、子供の受験用に買いましたが、子供に渡す前に私がまず読もうと思っています。

覚えるべきこどばは太字になっている事が教科書じゃないのに、わかりやすい。ああこの言葉は常識なんだあ・・OKOK知ってるって思いながら読んでいると
ああ勘違いしていたという部分が出てきたりして、

楽しく、学べ、日本人としての常識問題を歴史に対してクリアできそうな気持ちになります。

子供のときに歴史嫌いだった大人（私）や今歴史嫌いの学生、生徒が苦痛なく、物語感覚で読めますが、一気に読まないように、ゆっくり電車の中の友として読んでいます。

歴史は苦手なので、自分のために日本史を再確認しようと思い買いました。

まだ明治維新のあたりまでですが、頭の中が整理されていくのを感じます。単に史実だけでなく人物の思いなんかも補足しながら解説されかつ時代の繋がりを読者にわかってもらおうという著者の思いが伝わります。学校で学んだときはそれぞれの出来事を単独で暗記してただけでしたがこの本を読んで点が結ばれ線になっていく感じがします。

先の方のレビューにもありましたが重要事項が太字になってるのが（参考書的ではあるが）メリハリがきいて、これも読みやすい工夫だと思います。たまに取り出して何度も読み直したいと感じてます。

また、これをきっかけに気になる時代の本を読みたくもなってきてます。日本史を見渡すための羅針盤にもいいと思います。

67ページの1行目〜2行目に「ちなみに今でも世界でも軍隊をもたない国は日本だけだよ」とありますが、日本だけではありません。

例えば中米のコスタリカ。
Wikipediaで調べたら、「1948年に、憲法の規定によって軍隊を廃止した世界初の国である」とあります。

内容がちょっといい加減なのが気になります。
