5.0 out of 5 stars シンガポールでコミュニケーションを楽しむ一冊, 2003/5/11
　シンガポールは人種の坩堝といってもよいくらいに、いろいろな人たちが住んでいて、オリジナルとはちょっと違う英語や、中国語やマレー語などがミックスされて、独特の生活言語文化を作っています。この本では、バックグラウンドも含めたシンガポール弁？のニュアンスが、楽しいイラストとともによく表されていて、この本を持ってシンガポールに出かければ、たぶん何度かは、”ニヤリ”とできること（されること？）請け合いです。もちろんシンガポールに行ったことがある人も、思い出し笑い、ができるでしょう。

　また、著者とは、偶然現地で一年ほど同じ職場にいましたが、著者はいわゆる“語学”や“観光”に携わる人でなく、普通に仕事を持ってシンガポールで暮らしている人のひとりです。現地で試行錯誤してきた人の目から見たシンガポールでの暮らし方、という意味で、第2部に書かれているトピックスは、シンガポールに限らず、これから「海外で生活していこう」と考えている人には、なかなか参考になることも多いかと思います。

シンガポールで大変役立ちました。地元の人との話に役立つし、
　ﾀｸｼｰの中でオジサンの話が聞き取れ無かったけど、この本と地図で
難なくクリアーできました！。
現地の人とも、これでお話できましたよ！まぁ、深い話は、無理でしたが。相手も本に興味深深でした。

　現地のジェスチャー表現も載っていて、
現地の人がホントにしてるのを見て、通じたのが楽しかった。

食べ物の種類や頼み方も載っていてこのページを沢山つかった覚えがあります。

使ってわかる、驚きでした。
絵と言葉で楽しく現地の人と会話をはかる、指差しシリーズの企画もさる事ながら、この「シンガポール」版の構成もなかなかのものでした。

巻頭の著者の指導どおり、どこにどんな会話の内容がのっているのかよくみておいたので、実際の会話も意外とスムーズにすすみました。標準の英語＋スラングで、地元の人には結構ウケましたよ。

シンガポールに行かれる人なら是非、もっていかれる事おすすめします。
いろんな思い出ができますよ。
