著者は元松川事件の被告で、下山事件研究会事務局長として南原繁・広津和郎・松本清張・沼田稲次郎らと交流があった人。清張の「日本の黒い霧」の多くの事実関係や推理が、そのまま真に受けられないもの、だというのはそのとおりで、下山や松川での指摘もそれはそうだろう。
ほぼ、新しい発見はないとおもう。
清張が人民大衆を米国―陰謀的介入論に謀ったというのが、著者の清張にたいする怒りのようだが、何故、ここまで執念深く「そんなこと」に執着するのかがわからない。著者は清張のことを「陰謀的」と切り捨てるが、著者自身も「陰謀的」であるとはいえないだろうか？共産党ー清張批判を強調するあまり、米国や高度成長に異様に高い評価をあたえ、50年代とそれ以後のさまざまなレベルの政治と社会との接合関係が完全に見失われている。「共産党の武装闘争は憲法九条違反である」と言い出すあたりには、げんなりさせられた。
あとがきをよむと、中村正則氏から「過激な表現」を指摘、修正をアドバイスされたそうだが、過激というより「下品」である。陰謀を嗤う者は陰謀に陥るのの典型のような本。
