いきなり人をくったタイトルですが、テーマは成功本へのアンチテーゼ。
大酒飲んで早死にするのと、ちびちび酒を飲んで長生きするのと、どっちが失敗した人生か、そう簡単に判断できるのか。名声を残した人間が成功した人生なのか。しかしその名声も儚い上に、例えば殉教者とての名声を残した人生は成功なのか（死ぬ間際の本人にとっては、すくなくとも不愉快である）。

ダメ人生の基本的理論・職業別ダメ人生になる方法・ダメ人生の具体実践、と大きく分けて三部立ての構成になってますが、これが滅法面白い！
浮気がばれる、意味もなくしょっちゅう墓地にいく、世界一周失敗する（コロンブスのこと）・・・など、人生斜めから見させたら、やっぱりフランス人がナンバーワン。
なかでもすごいのが、「テロに失敗する」。原著が書かれたのが０１年末です。狂ったようにテロとの戦いを論じている中で、こんなものがかけるセンス、すごいなあ。

「完全にダメ」とタイトルにあるけれども、実際は内容は爆笑の連続で、こんな事やったら実際は面白くてしょうがないんじゃないかと思われる程。

「十二音節詩形式でかつ回文」で「ボヴァリー夫人」を書く？「失われた時を求めて」をサンスクリット語訳にする方が楽そうだ。

とはいえ人生をダメにするにはこの本はユーモアがありすぎ、あまりにも魅力的。
本を読む楽しみだけでなく人生も楽しめるようになってしまう所が罪といえば罪。

します。
著者は「レーニン・ダダ」や「二人のランボー」など歴史の隙間に微妙なズレを読む名人ですが
これはもう爆笑。
ちなみにあとがきに書いてあることはホントです。
わたしはしました。
早くしないと、出版社が対応してくれなくなる気がします、ので、お早めに。
