　ユリイカがついにレム・コールハースを特集した。そのラインナップを見ると建築史家五十嵐太郎氏が本特集を全面的にバックアップして、著作解題、用語集と作家研究の必需品を具備し、対談２本、磯崎新　ｘ　浅田彰　と編集者溝口範子　x 五十嵐太郎　という中身の濃い組み合わせ。
　コールハースの著作は、最近では『錯乱のニューヨーク』の文庫化などにともなって、教養書の一角を占めるようになってきた。これを考慮すると日本では最も人口に膾炙した海外の建築家であろう。その読解方法を一般の読者にも伝授しようとする欲張りな特集とも言え、建築がもつ豊穣な思考実験をここに展開する。人間を挑発し続けるアーキテクツ・レムさま指南書の誕生である。

レム・コールハウスの理論面に対しての適度な入門書がでたように思えます。本書の中でも述べられていますが建築としての部分は、やはりa+uやエルクロなりの雑誌の特集を見るなり、作品集、実際に建築を見に行くべきだと思います。特に嬉しいのは用語集。いろいろと新しい言葉を作る方なので言葉を知っていないと、友人同士で話をするときですら困ることになりますから、一度ここらで復習という方にもちょうど良いと思います。
これを一度読んだ上で、錯乱のニューヨークなりS,M,L,XLの論文なり、ハーヴァードの本を読むと、最初に読んだ時に感じる混乱も少しは和らぐんじゃないでしょうか。

他の人の視点から書かれたレム・コールハウスがいくつも書かれているので、現在　建築をやっている人間がどのように見ているかの確認のための本としても　幅は狭いが役立つ本のように思われます。また、建築関係以外の言葉もあり、少し客観的に見る機会を与えてくれるのではないでしょうか。

本書の中で、s,m,l,xlのベルリンの壁の話が取り上げられていたのは個人的に好きな文章なので共感が持てました。

　OMA/AMOという組織を率い、建築家という既存の枠組を超えて活動範囲をますます拡げつつある超建築家を、今更ながらではあるが多くの評者が各々の視点から分析・解釈している。

　コールハースの刺激的・挑発的な言説と作品（コンセプト）を併せて参照しつつその思考を辿るに当り、本書のような異なる視点からの論説は、有効な道標になり得るだろう。

　もはや「建築」もあっという間に消費されてしまう現代において、既存の枠組みで考えていたのでは到底これからの可能性を見出し得ない「建築家」という生き方。

　「設計してる場合じゃない！！」

　もはや建築の射程を拡げることしか、選択肢は残されていないのではないだろうか？

　狭義の建築にこだわることなく、建築のプラットフォームまで設計することが重要。

　その方法は様々考えられるが、自分にできる方法でその射程を拡げていきたいと思う。
