スペシャル・オリンピックス（SO)に興味ある方、知的発達障害に関心のある方、或いは、ただひたすらに心の感動を求めている方、どのような方にもお奨めです。知識・理解を深めることも勿論得られますし、感動もあり、私は是非ともこの活動にボランティアとして参加したい気持ちを強くしました。機会があったら、SO広報活動の一環として制作されたドキュメンタリー映画「able」も是非ご覧になることをお奨めします。

この本を読む前に「ありがとう。」というスペシャルオリンピックスのメモリアルブックに出会いました。　今年の冬に長野で開催されたスペシャルオリンピックス。　その大会の感動をリメークした素晴らしい本でした。　そしてこの「ゆっくりゆっくり笑顔になりたい」は、より広く　より深くスペシャルオリンピックスとは？　を知ることができました。　参加するアスリートやコーチ、ボランティア、スタッフの大会への情熱。　優しさ。　反してスペシャルオリンピックスの日本での認知度の低さを、本書から知ることもできました。　とても悲しいことですが…。　日本ではパラリンピックが多くの人に認知されてますが…　スペオリはまだまだなのですね。　知的障害者は神様が贈り物として、この世に贈ってくださいました。　計り心を持った我々に「純粋な優しい心」という素晴らしい贈り物としてです。　ページを捲ると次々に押し寄せる感動！　知的障害児を授かった親御さんの心の強さ純粋さ優しさ、コーチの方々のアスリートへの思いやり「ゆっくりでいいよ。焦らなくていいんだよ。待とう…　なっ。」　障害者　健常者など関係なく本書は、子育てで今つらかったり悩んだりしている　お母さんお父さん、読んでみてください。　そして笑顔をゆっくり感じてください。　お願いいたします。
