FNC理論に基づく評価、分析、トレーニング指導などについてまとめられている本です．こうした本にありがちなウェイト器具を用いたレジスタンス・トレーニングの方法ばかり書かれていて個別性の原則をあまり活かせないような内容ではなく、身体アライメントなども考慮したよりパーソナルな指導が可能な内容になっています．写真も豊富に利用されており、便利だと思います．

ただ、用語に関して一般的な通称とは異なるのではないかと思えるようなものもあり、トレーナーの一般的な「バイブル」というよりは著者達のグループの理論について勉強するといった捉えかたがよいと思います．また写真は豊富ですが例えば一つ一つのエクササイズ毎に利用される筋などが書かれているわけではないので、ある程度は知識がないと細かい筋の名称などはわからないと思います．

それとこの本に限ったことではないのですが、日本で出版される日本人の本というのは引用文献があまり書かれていないことが多く、著者の主張が本人の考えにすぎないのか、それとも研究論文の科学的知見から引用しているものなのかわからないことが多々あります．よって、その信頼性や妥当性に疑問符が付くものがよくみかけられます．この本でも最後に書籍の文献がいくつか紹介されているだけで、論文の紹介がないため、本の中で主張されている事柄がどのくらい科学的な価値があるのかわかりません．この点は残念です．

しかし筋力トレーニングの紹介だけになってしまいがちなトレーニングの本が多い中で、このようにより個別的な要素を含む指導を行う上で参考になる本というのは和書では少ないことから良い本だと思います．トレーニングの本として和書としては星4つ、洋書も含めると星3つの評価になります．お薦めします．

　数多くのトレーニング本を読んでいますが、なかなかいい本にめぐり会うことができなかったのですが、やっと見つけたいい本です。このパーソナル・トレーナーズ・バイブルは人間の体やトレーニングの基礎的なことを理論的かつわかりやすく書かれてあり、また、イラストや写真が多くて、実際にトレーニングやストレッチングを行なうにあたり、非常に参考になります。指導者になる人やトレーナーを目指す人、または指導者の方や競技者の方々にとってよきバイブルになること間違いないでしょう！
