映画では分からないアナキンの内面がよく分かります。あとがきにもあるのですが，本編のアナキンは愚痴る愚痴る，パルパティーンにも不満たらたらで，とうとうパルパティーンが逆ギレする場面も・・。しかし，これらの描写はアナキンがいきなり冷酷なダースヴェイダーになったのではなく，徐々にシスの暗黒卿になっていく過程として丁寧に描かれているだけなのです。ストーリーは，多くのスターウォーズ小説を書いている作者だけに，一気に読ませる内容です。ですが，新顔のジェダイさんには，なかなかイメージが沸かず感情移入できなかったのも事実です。最後にオビ=ワンが出てきますが，彼の心を痛めている様子が読んでいて辛かったです。星４つは，毎度のことですが，この程度のボリュームであれば一冊にしてください。
