　読後、あなたはきっとこのホテルにチェックインしたくなる。ザ・プラザは単に超豪華ホテルではない。この本が、それを証明してくれる。

　プラザで咲いては散った物語の数々、このホテルを通り抜けていった人々。読み進むにつれ、それらが記録映画を観ているように鮮やかに浮かび上がる。きらびやかなイメージに包まれたずっしりと重い歴史が、ぐっと身近に感じる。これだけ豪華なホテルともなれば、その内幕ものといえども敬遠してしまいそうであるが。著者のなめらかな文体と詳細な記述に、いつしかひきつけられていく。プラザを歴史的建造物としてとらえたくなる。著者はプラザに住んでいたこともあり、本作品の執筆の為にスタッフに気軽にインタビューもしている。それが庶民読者には引け目を感じ??せてしまうかもしれない。いや、そんな思いはじきに消える。著者の語りから、いかに彼がプラザを尊敬するかが読み取れ、その暖かい心に読者も共感していくからだ。
　内幕ものとはいえ、この本に俗っぽいところはもちろん微塵もない。世の酸いも甘いも体験し尽くした大人だけが享受できるプラザの壮大さに、安心して身をまかせて読み進めていくことができるのだ。
　いつかプラザに泊まろう！その時、このホテルが”宿泊所”以上の存在であるとを改めて知ることになろう。この本の記述を思い出しながら。
