この本との出合いは私の運命を変えるくらいのインパクトがあった。
これまで「自分」だと思っていたのは、「過去の傷を背負った」ままの自分であって、「本当の」自分ではないことに気付かされた。たとえば、母親が妊娠している時に起こる「ささいな」ことでさえ、その赤ちゃんに一生続くかもしれないような「後遺症」を与えることなどの洞察は、驚愕に値した。
　また、自分にとって「不愉快な感情」こそが自分の「苦しみ」の源を探しあてる重要な鍵であることをこの本は明示してくれたが、これは、本当に目からうろこだった。人間は普通不愉快な感情を分析することは嫌なのでしないで終わってしまうことが多いが、それをあえて分析することで、自分が「解放」されていくことがこの本を読んでよくわかった。
　ただ「初源」など、言葉の使われ方がいかにも訳本という感じで、文章もわかりにくい箇所があるので、もっとわかり易く解釈するとより多くの人を救う本になるだろうと確信できた。
