「超人ロック」は第1作が1967年に同人誌ベースで描かれたのが始まりで、1970年代に商業誌で連載され幾度かの掲載誌の変更を経験しながら現在も連載中の長編マンガとしては最古の部類に入るものです。本作品は最も現代に近い時代を描いたもので１タイトルとしては最長編となる見込みです。(今まで3巻完結が最長)
本作品では未だテレポートなどの高度な超能力は未収得なので初めてロックに接する読者は何が超人なのか分からないかも知れません。
私は今でも新作が読める幸せに浸るのみですが・・

AD20XX年。エスパーは「スキャナー」と呼ばれている時代。
地球では軌道エレベーター建設計画が進行中。
ロックはその事業の警備をする「スキャナー」。
計画阻止を目論むＣ国は、スーミンを送り込んだ。
しかし、スーミンは、自らの意志でスカイリフト社に乗り込み、ロックと出会う。（ここまでが2巻までのあらすじ）
スーミンの変化に気づいたＣ国は暗殺者楊を送り込む。
ロックはスーミンを守るべくトレーニング開始。
果たしてスーミンの運命は…。

　今まで無敵の強さを誇る超能力を持つロックしか知らなかったがゆえに、こんなに「弱い」ロックに少々戸惑っています。(だから星４つ)
　テレポートはどうした! バリヤーはどうした! と突っ込みを思わず入れたくなるところ多々あり。地球黎明編ということですが、ロック自身の「黎明期」でもあるということなのかなーと思いながら、一気読みしました。
　C国が送り込んだ新たな敵に今後、スーミンとともにどう立ち向かうのか、どういう超能力を使うのか、続きが楽しみです。

　その後、人類が宇宙に飛び出すようになった「インフィニットワン」計画の時にもまだ「スキャナー」という言葉が使われているので、そんなに離れた時代ではないはずですが(１９巻参照)、その時にはもう普通(?)に超能力を使えているロック。この間にロックにどんな変化が訪れたのか。それもできれば書いて欲しいですねー。別の話でいいですから。
