はじめはすごい本だと感心しました。しかし、実際に自分の研究を始めてみると、それほどたいした本ではないと分かりました。
式の導出、それに対する物理的説明、各節ごとにあるコメント、どれも中途半端で、むしろお粗末。
紙面上の制約(著者がよく使ういいわけ)もあったのでしょうが、物理専攻の大学院生がこの本で満足するはずがありません。
しかし、物理以外の学生が(たとえば、化学やマテリアルサイエンス)磁性体について手っ取り早く、しかも量子力学の知識なしで学ぶにはいい本かもしれません。
