とてもおもしろく、後半は一気読みだった。
「高熱隧道」と比較して本作に低い評価を付けた方もいらっしゃるが、本作と高熱隧道の両方を読んでみて、どちらが良作、駄作というものではないと感じた。
そもそも舞台となっている時代背景が違いすぎる（第二次大戦開戦直前と戦後）ので、その点が雰囲気に大きな違いを生んでいる。
また、主題ではないことを絡めている点も、小説としてある種の演出だと思うし、人物像の表現にもなっている。
私はそれらの点が本作を低く評価する要素だとは思わないので、興味を持った方には一読をお薦めしたい。

つい先日フジテレビでやっていましたね。
本を読んだのは、10年以上前のことなので、テレビと原作のどこがどう違うのかははっきり
わかりませんでした。
でも、原作もあくまでも小説であって、どこまで「黒部」の真実を伝えているかはわからない
ですよね。
それを頭に入れて読むなら、あの時代に果敢に挑んだ人々の様子を少しでも知ることができる
一冊だと思います。
黒部ダムにはこれまで２回行きました。
また機会があれば行ってみたいです。

人跡未踏と言われた黒部の大自然と戦うトンネル屋の苦闘を描いた秀作だろう。これは平成版であり、加筆された部分が物語の流れをやや止めている感がある。作品を通して「芳賀の黒部」が描かれているが、破砕帯突破という男の世界と娘の運命を重ねているところは人間的と言える。
黒四は水との戦い。黒三は熱との戦いというのが好対照だ。高熱隧道は、戦争継続のための国家命令の下で、掘削事故や泡雪崩等読みながら目を覆いたくなるような工事が強行される様が吉村昭氏の手法で見事に描かれている。黒部の太陽は、木元正次氏の手により、自然との闘いを描きながら、リーダーシップや人間模様を一気に読ませるものである。
私としては、両作品も甲乙つけ難く、前後して読むことをお奨めしたい。また黒部を訪れてみようかと思った。
