古典は読みづらく近寄りがたいという方にお薦めです。
もちろんオリジナルにあたるのがいいのでしょうが、話の展開、概要をつかむというのであればこういったシリーズは役に立つと思います。

さて、この君主論は、オリジナルを読んだ後に呼んだものですが、オリジナルとは違い、マキャベリの人生と、導入部にマキャベリが君主論を書いた時代のイタリアの政治状況も描かれています。特に時代背景については、大いに助けになることでしょう。

君主論の思想については部分しか述べていない点が難点ですが、オリジナルを読むにあたってのよき導入になっていることは評価できます。

オリジナルを読んだ後に理解を深める、逆にこの漫画を読ん後にオリジナルを読んで理解する。両方ともできます。オリジナルと共に読んでおくとよいとよいと感じました。

「イタリア人が命をかけるのは女と故郷（出身地方）を守るときだけ。 なぜなら元々イタリアは都市国家の連合体なため帰属意識が国ではなく出身地方に縛られているから。」という話があります。(Chakuwikiの「イタリア軍」より) そもそも現在のイタリアというような国家が生まれたのはごく最近のことです(1861年に統一、イタリア王国。だから「あなたはイタリア人ですか？」という問いにニヤッと笑うイタリア人も居ると言う話も聞いたことがあります。むしろ「どの地方の出身ですか？」と聞く方がしっくりくるそうな...)
そんな群雄割拠の世界で「リーダーが備えるべき資質とは？」を著したマキアヴェッリの人生が良く分かるように構成されています。君主論本文への言及はほんの少しですが、「君主論を読む前のウォーミングアップ」として「イタリアの歴史を少しかじる」くらいのお気楽気分で楽しむ分にはちょうど良いでしょう。（漫画ですし、小一時間程度で抵抗なくスッと読めます）
なお佐藤一斎の「重職心得箇条」と比較参照しながら読んでみると面白いかも。(生まれた時期も場所も政治情勢も違うのですが、同じポイントを指摘していたりしますので) こちらも「まんがで読破」シリーズで読んでみたいな(笑)。

配下を統制するには君主は常に初志貫徹、恐れられる存在でなければならない。
配下に怠惰を引き起こさせないためには、君主は隙を見せてはならない。 etc.

群雄割拠の時代において「君主たる者はどのような精神態度でいるべきか]。
いわゆる君主論は権謀術数であります。
この精神は帝王学に通づるものがあるでしょう。
しかし安岡正篤の方が断然慈悲深くはあるが・・・
まぁ結局アメとムチが使い分けられる人物が上に立つ者の必要な資質だと私は理解してます。

関連まんがとして、まんがで読破シリーズの「夜間飛行」は必読です。君主（社長）の葛藤が実によく描かれています。お勧めです。
