文学系の友人から、「神曲」を薦められましたが、本屋で見たら、けっこう分厚い本で「地獄篇」「煉獄篇」「天国篇」の３冊があり、読むのをためらっていました。
そこに「まんがで読破」シリーズに「神曲」があることを知ったので、おーこれはラッキーと早速読んでみました。

さすが漫画の効力というか、分厚い３冊分の本がすっきりまんがで１冊になっていました。

ストーリーは、若くして死んでしまったベアトリーチェという女性が、
自分を恋い慕うあまり絶望しているダンテを天界から見て可哀そうに思い、
古代の詩人ヴェルギリウスにお願いして、天界まで導いてもらうというお話。
ダンテとヴェルギリウスは、罪を永久に罰せられる地獄と、
罪を浄化し天国へ向かう準備をする煉獄の険しい道を旅して、
そして光に包まれた天国に到る。

原作は、詩で構成されているので、正直読みにくそうだなぁとあきらめかけていたので、
「まんがで読破」シリーズにあって良かったなぁと思います。
内容も幻想的で、１３〜１４世紀の人の考えていた地獄、煉獄、天国のイメージがよくわかりました。
機会があったら詩の方でも読んでみたいと思いました。

原作は読んでいませんが、スピリチュアルの原典のようですね。
もっと元をたどれば、聖書になるかもしれませんが、この漫画ではハリウッド仕立てのＳＦファンタジーの源流を感じます。
日本の漫画では、石ノ森章太郎の「サイボーグ009」も同じものを感じます。
地下帝国ヨミ編、天使編など。
人間の創造力は昔から変わらないのだなと痛感します。
簡単に読めて敷居が低く話題を広めやすいのでいい本と思います。

　宗教関係はほぼ受け付けないわたしなので、漫画で読めて良かった・・。
　他の２冊よりは、画も多少綺麗だったかも。
　何だかどこの宗教も、形が多少変わっても、似たようなことを言っているような、
それが解かったのも収穫だろうか。
　漫画で解かった気になるのも早計な気もするけれど、神曲に関しては
これで良いような気がしたりして??
　
　連休はいっぱい読めて良かった、というか簡単に読めるシリーズのようです。
