新聞の書評で見かけたので買ってみたのですが、
とても心に残る作品でした。

多分タイトルや表紙の絵柄だけでは、中身を判断出来かねる方も
いらっしゃるかと思いましたので、少し紹介させてください。

短編集ですが、表題の「トモネン」には多くのページが割かれていて、
帯に紹介ある通り不思議な世界観を持った魔女っ子の日常が描かれており、
思わず口元がゆるんでしまうこと間違い無しです。

後半は、それぞれ違った女の子が主人公の様々な短編が詰まって
いるのですが、先程紹介の「トモネン」とは、がらりと趣が異なって、
凄く胸を打たれる場面がいくつも登場してきました。
誰もが経験したことがあるであろう
他人と分かり合えない距離感について、自分をさらけ出せないがゆえの孤独感。
思わず自分の姿が映し出されているようで胸が痛くなりました。

それでいてこの本をお薦め出来るのは、
作者の大庭さんが、作品の中で、そのような孤独から一歩踏み出す
「勇気」を少女を通して見せてくれているからです。
だから、この本を読み終えたあとの爽快感といったら
本当に例えようがありません。

コミカルなお話と思って手にとる方も、もちろん満足出来ると思いますが、
じっくりと小説を読むような気分を味わうこともできる
素晴らしい本だと思います。

大庭さん（krbkさん）が原画を担当した知る人ぞ知る名作ゲーム『空の浮動産』から4年。2002年の『リーザの左手』による講談社アフタヌーン誌の四季賞入賞から3年弱。ついにというかようやくというか発売された単行本は、『リーザの左手』を含め全て同人誌にて発表された短編を収録した短編集。
「ジブリっぽい」絵柄が目を引くほかは知名度の高いマンガ家さんではない（失礼! なお、児童文学の挿絵画家としての知名度は存じ上げません）し、果たして売れるのかしらと危ぶんでいたが書店での扱いを見る限り予想外に受け入れられている模様.>収録されているのは、おおむらゆりこさんや宮崎駿さんの絵のような、柔らかな光を感じさせる温かい絵と、そこから想像される通りの「牧歌的」なファンタジー...が確かに主体だがそれだけでなく、少しビターなテイストを混ぜたシリアスな（あえて言えば青臭さの漂う）短編も含まれていて考えさせられる。
マンガとしてはちょっと未熟な部分もあり（コマ割りとか、好みもあるけど説明不足なところとか）万人にお薦め出来るわけではないけれど、メッセージ性は確かだし、絵に雰囲気がある分個々のシーンに深みがあり非常に印象的。表紙の絵が気になった方は迷うことなく買い。

素朴なかわいさを持つ凝った表紙に、一瞬「ジブリ系？」などと思った私は読後に赤面しております。
駿系の「ロリ・オタ・厭世観・マザコン・赤旗・懐古調」とは全く違う世界観を持っています。

すべて同人誌ベースで発表されていたものを収載。
描線のやわらかさと的確なデッサンとの融合にうっとり。
でも、他のレビュアーが指摘しているようにビターも利いています。
その昔教科書で「桜色の染料は、茶色い桜の樹皮を煮詰めてつくる」云々という話があったのですが、
後半に収録されている読み切り群の「やわらかな日常にある、一瞬の痛みと気づき」というものが、
「全く傷つかずに良い人生を送ることなどできない」
＝「美しい色は、美しい材料からできるわけではない」という部分と重なって、
自分を貫く一瞬の苦みと、だからこそ味わうことのできる甘さを喚起させます。
本当に後半の読み切り群は久しぶりに味わう作品でした。

ちなみに最初の「かわいさ全開！」の作品も大好きです。
前書き＆後書きは間違いなく「ぬいさん好き」系のハートを一撃でしょう。

・・・最近はこうの史代／五十嵐大介と連続で「当たり」を引いているのですが、
大庭さんもアフタヌーン四季賞出身なのですね。

本当に今後も期待します。
