私は今般の耐震偽装問題が表面化するずっと以前に本書を購入していたが、今読み直して
みると、これだけ紙幅を費やしてかかれた本でも、耐震偽装にあってしまっては役に立た
ない（全部ではないが）ということにショックを受ける。
たとえばP.64の耐震性の項目では、1981年以前の旧耐震基準による建物は要注意とある
が、もはや「新しいから大丈夫」とはいえないことは周知のとおりだし、P.130以降の
「設計・施行の落とし穴」、P.139以降の「売主の落とし穴」はまさに耐震偽装問題を
示唆するものであるが、その対処法は、「過去の実績を参考に」「（売主のよしあしは）
ケースバイケースで…」と心もとない。
マンション選びについては本書を読んでおけばほぼ分かる。しかし、本書を読んだら
「終の住処（すみか）」としてのマンション購入に躊躇すること間違いない。

作り手の代表と買い手の代表が語るよいマンションの選び方のノウハウが分かる本。

残念ながら、日本には少なからず、手抜き・手抜かりのマンションが存在する。これらの欠陥マンションをつかんで一生後悔することがないように、家を買おうとする側もしっかりと理論武装する必要がある。

本書は、マンションの工法や業者の選定方法、チラシや設計図書の見方まで、かなり実践的なノウハウを提供してくれるので、マンションを本気で探しているひとにとっては役立つ知識が一杯です。ただ、これらを本気で調べようと思うと、かなり膨大な時間と労力が必要なことは確かなので、相当気合いを入れて臨むことが必要となります。

一方で、著者の一人、加治氏の主張にもあるように、「本当にマンションを買う必要があるのか？」といった点もじっくりと考える必要があるでしょう。マンション選びもまずは人生設計からでしょうか。

　中村俊雄は、元長谷工コーポレーション副社長。加治将一は、元不動産投資会社社長。
　加治の持論は、マンションは、『失う金額の割には得る利が少な過ぎる』だ。そもそも、日本のマンション自体、買う価値はない、という、元も子もなくなるような考えが垣間見えるほどなので、買ってはいけない判断基準は厳しい。

　所所にチェックポイントがまとめてあるが、ランダムに登場するのであとから探すのに苦労する。付箋を貼るとか、マーカーで印を付けながら、読みたい。
　チェックポイントのページをコピーして、チェックしながらモデルルームをはしごしたくなった。
