家でもできるむし歯の予防法、むし歯になってしまったときの治療法、などが、易しく書かれています。また歯科医療の実情や素朴な疑問などにも触れられており、歯の健康に興味のあるひとには、かなりの読み応えがあるでしょう。

ただし歯が健康であるとは、どういうことなのか？歯の健康はどうあるべきなのか？といった、著者の健康観はいまいち伝わってきません。現在、日本の健康水準は、多くの面で世界に誇れるものとなっています。日本はこれから健康大国として、ただ健康であるだけではなくて、健康に対する考え方も、世界に誇れる国を目指すべきだと思いますので、その面で今一歩かなと思いました。

本書は、前著『100万人の歯科クリニック』の改訂版であり、我々患者の立場に立って、患者が、何を！どこまで！知りたがっているのか、という点に留意して戴き書かれた、最新の歯科医療の「ガイドブック」です。
著者いわく「歯科治療を正しく理解していただき、少しでも歯科に通う際の参考になればと思い、・・・歯科に通う前に、あるいは、通院中にこの本をお読み頂ければ幸いであります。」と述べられている通り、歯科開業医師が自ら、我々患者の立場になって、やさしく、わかりやすく書かれている一家に1冊必携の必読書であると思います。
