本誌の内容に関しては、Webエンジニアとしての基礎的な部分が多いですが、自分の今まで学んだ知識を再確認するには良い機会でした。
過去記事については、流行的な内容も多いと思いますが、基本的な概念や基礎的な事を学習する意味では、初心者にとっても有用であると思います。
WEB+DB PRESS の過去記事が、全て収録されているというだけでも、買う価値があると思います。
おそらく、前回の総集編から約２年程で出たので、次に出るのも２年後ぐらいかもしれません。

WEB開発、DB開発は、セキュリティとならんでIT業界の稼ぎ頭である。
その技術と経験を圧縮したもので、過去の経緯も含めて理解できるのでよい。

現在の情報だけだと、なぜ、こういうソフトを使っているのか、
なぜこういう設定になっているのかが分からないことがある。

過去の経緯も知っていると、なんとなく、どうしてかが分かる場合がある。
開発の現場には１冊は必要。

ITの技術やノウハウというのはほんとに進化が早いもので、知らないうちに
新技術が生まれていたり、だれかが作ったライブラリやフレームワークが
普及していたりと、一人で努力して吸収し、背負っていくには大変な分野であります。

とはいえ、自分で見つけたライブラリや技術・言語にすぐ飛びつくのにも
将来性・信頼性の面で勇気が要り「みんなどうやってるんだろう」と思いつつ、
それを横目に既存の技術にすがる。　そんな方も正直多いのではないかと思います。

この本はそういった技術者向けに道を作ってくれる月刊誌を総集した本＋CDです。
過去に登場した新技術やライブラリ、仕事上のノウハウやトラブルシューティング
など「ああ、それ知りたかった」という話題が豊富に掲載されています。

コンテンツはCD-ROMで提供されていて、各バックナンバーのPDFをインデックス化
したPDFから検索して読んでいくという使い方になります。
　知りたい技術が掲載されているかどうかはこの検索ですぐに見つけることが
できますので非常に重宝します。　「キーワードは聞いたことがあるんだけど、
どういった技術なんだろう・どうやって使うんだろう」、とか、「みんなこういった
トラブルや悩みをどうやって解決してるんだろう」などの問題をうれしいほどに
取り上げてくれています。

重版されているのかどうか分かりませんが、手に入る今のうちに1冊手元において置くと
良いでしょう。　内容からみて値段は安すぎるぐらいですしね。
