本書はWindowsでいわゆるDOS窓を使用する際のコマンドのレファレンスである。コマンドレファレンスの評価に良い悪いも無いように思われるかもしれないが、本書は非常に見やすくレイアウトされており、分かり易い解説、すべてのコマンドに用例が付いていること、また、Windows 95/98とNTでの仕様の違いまで記載されており、DOSプロンプトを使用する上でこの上ない参考書となっている。
WindowsユーザーのためのDOS入門とか言ったたぐいの下手な解説書よりも本書の方がずっと役に立つように思える。というか、そうした本を読んでも結局は本書のようなレファレンスブックが無いとDOS窓を十分に使いこなせないであろうから、本書はDOSをたまにでも使ってみる人にとって手放せない一冊であると言える。

DOS操作に必要な最新コマンドが網羅されています。 大変分かりやすく、読みやすいレイアウトで好感が持てます。１冊もっていれば、必ず役に立つことでしょう。

今ではあまり使われなくなったDOSですが、プログラムテストの時やネットワークの調査をするときにはやっぱりDOSを使います。
ネットワーク関係のコマンドや基本的な操作方法など、いざというときに便利です。
XPがない時代に書かれているので、対応は95/98/NTと古くはありますがXPでも使えます。
