＞「できるだけわたし（吉本）などがふだん考えたこともない視覚から」
と注文を付けたインタビューに対する答えを編集者がまとめた現在認識と人生論です。
その故にめずらしく「日本人論」を語っているのかと思いました。
聞き所としては、

＞いまの日本は、道徳的にもよくないから、
＞品格とか愛国心とか武士道精神といったものを復活させようという考え方がブームになっているようです。
＞しかし、僕はそういうことは無駄である、初めから無駄なんだと考えています。
＞そういう復古的ないし懐古的なやり方が、このかつてない新しい社会の状態に対して通用するでしょうか。
＞僕は復古的な考え方は通用しないと思っています。

と語っているところでしょう。
「見た目を気にするのは動物性の名残」
「甘えが強くてどこが悪い」
のような原理論からの展開もあります。
さらに、埴谷雄高さんとの論争にふれて、
＞埴谷さんからは、その論争が終わってから、
＞吉本にすまなかった、謝っておいてくれという、
＞間接的な伝言がありました。
という裏話が述べられていて、
吉本さんと埴谷さん両者のファンとしては、ホッとしました。

　以前、五木寛之氏の「生きるヒント」がベストセラーになったことがあったが、本書は吉本版「生きるヒント」とでもいうことができようか。書名が難しいのでとっつきにくい印象を与えてしまうが、口語体で書かれていることもありたいへん読みやすい。多くの独立した項目から構成されており、関心がある部分だけ拾い読みすることもできる。
　８０歳を超えた著者だからこそ｀見える'世界を読者に提示してくれる。

知識を提供してくれる
楽しみを与えてくれる
前向きに生きていこうと活力をくれる

そんな単純な言葉にできることもなく
とにかく1枚1枚考えさせてくれる時間を
与えてくれた書籍でした。

とてもゆっくりと味わい深く読むことができましたので
立ち読みで済まさず購入して正解だったと思います。

「あらゆるものは利となり毒となる」

なかなか気づけないものですよね。
