小学生のときに読みました。沖縄には行ったこともなく親戚がいるわけでもなく、何にも知らなかったので、地上戦のすさまじさに驚くばかりだったのを思い出します。最後におじいさんたちが少女のために白旗をつくってくれるところがすごく印象的で、ノンフィクションなので適した表現ではないかもしれないけれど、「好きな場面」です。一度は必ず、子供の頃に読ませたい本だと思います。
