伊藤正徳さすがに新聞記者として、個人的に事件に関連した間や、事情を個人的に知っているものだから、書いていることに説得力がある。
亡くなってから４０年たっても著作が再販されるのは、これだけのものは、今では絶対に書けないからだ。
僕はかなりの戦争関連本を読んできたが、戦争物の著作の面白いところは、いくら調べても、自分で体験していないと絶対に書けないこと。
だから、これからは、誰が戦争物を書いても、ウソっぽくなるわけで、この本などは、永遠に生き残るだろう。
この本は、日本陸軍を中心にして、その軍閥がどう成立し、その反発がどうあったか、軍が暴走して、それを止めるものがなく、ずるずると日米開戦に至るまでを、詳細に描いている。
特に、日中戦争で戦線を拡大していった事情、人間関係が、詳しく説明されているのが興味深い。
この本はその場にいてその人物を知っている著者が書いているので主観が入っているが、それがさらに興味深い。
結局、軍部官僚の出世争いが国を誤った、根本原因だというわけだ。
その、軍部は消滅したが、戦後も官僚体制はそのままで、軍事体制は日本の企業風土の中に生き続け、現在の日本を形成しているってわけだね。
