北川 達夫
1966年東京生まれ。武蔵中学・高校を経て早稲田大学法学部卒業。ヘルシンキ大学歴史言語学部等に留学。外務省入省。在フィンランド日本国大使館在勤。在エストニア日本国大使館兼勤。帰朝後に退官し、執筆・翻訳・教育活動のかたわら、科挙式メソッドやフィンランド・メソッドなど独自の教育メソッドの開発と実践に携わり、委託により海外教育事情研究・教員研修・教材開発を幅広く手がける。2005年(有)イヨ教育事業部・北欧文化教育総合研究所・所長、フィンランド・メソッド普及会・会長に就任し、フィンランドの教育メソッドの紹介と実践を行っている(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

フィンランドの教育方法が最近採り上げられることが多くなりました。
そこでちょうど3年の息子がいるのでこの本を買ってみました。
国語の教科書、ということですが、日本の小学校の国語の教科書とは全くイメージが違います。

教科書を日本語訳したものなので、教室で、先生と複数の生徒たちがら話し合ったり意見を言い合ったりするように作られている本ですので、家庭で子どもだけにこの本を渡して読ませるだけなら買わない方がいいと思います。

少なくとも子どもとその両親のいずれか、できれば両親揃って3人（兄弟がいるのならさらに一緒に参加させたらなおさら良さそうです）で、いろんなことを話し合いながら読み進めていくべきテキストだと思いました。

挿絵も可愛らしく、本当に小学校3年生くらいならちょうど良いかなと感じました。

読ませるテキストではなくて、考えさせる、自分の意見をまとめさせる力を養うテキストです。

だからこそ、自分以外の人の意見に耳を傾けたりすることがとても重要なので、やはり学校のようなところで使ってもらったらとてもよいテキストではないかなあと思います。

家庭では読むだけで終わってしまわないように、親がしっかり力と手を貸しながら読み進めていくことで、子どもにとって役立つテキストになり、活用できると思います。
