大阪を舞台とする弁護士の、管財人としての人生の記録。
「風雲録」と言ってもいい、その波乱のエピソードはいずれも秀逸。
銀行員にもオススメできる。

ただし、題名は、内容を表せていない。
よくある「なぜ○○なのか？」系の題名を持っているが、
本書は「弁護士一般」の話をまったく述べておらず、著者の佐伯氏特有の
モノの見方が記述されるのと留まる。

佐伯氏の人生は、かくも彩り深いものであるのだから、下手に一般化を
試みるよりも、自伝として深堀した方がずっと良い書になったかと思う。

内容の秀逸さに比し、外観が完全に「新書」としての憂き目にあっている。
惜しい。

著者の度胸や仕事に対する姿勢には圧倒されるものがあり、読み物としては面白かったです。
でも、ウラの見抜き方を教えてほしいと思って読むと、期待はずれに終わると思います。

著者は、人と同じ道を辿るのではなく、ウラ読みをして自分なりに解釈して自分の信念に従い精力的にものごとを進めていけばよいということをひたすら言い続けています。
このウラ読みですが、闇雲に人まねを避けて人と違うことをするというのではなく、目標を設けてそのシナリオを練り形作った上での戦略・戦術行為であるというところをよく認識するべきだと思います。
本書では、破産管財人として実績を上げた事例から真偽、弱点、人間性を見抜き、更には先の先を見抜くことを力説していますが、それなりの人生経験を積んだり、深い視野や思慮がないとなかなかできるワザではないと思います。
本書は新書ですから、ウラ読みの切り口だけでそのノウハウまでは述べ至っていませんが、こういった考え方を持って世渡りをすることもやり方のひとつであるということが分かればよいかと思います。
