どうしても定期的に発行される時計雑誌は
薄く、広く、となりがちですが、この「至高のパテック・・」
は当然だか、パテックのみを取り上げ期待に応えてくれました。
カタログと雑誌の間を埋める内容で、
豊富な写真(当然カラー)、各部のアップ写真、
合間に出てくるショートコラムは筆者と読者の距離を
縮めてくれるはずです。

パテックの現代の全体像を掴むことのできる内容です。
ムーブメント紹介の章もしっかりあるのですが、
欲を言えば一新時計の協力のもと、もっと踏み込んで
ほしかったです。

パテックフィリップを購入する前にぜひ一読してほしい書籍である。
自分はコンプリケーション５０３５を購入してから入手したのだが
この本の筆者は実際にパテックを何本も所有して使用している事か
らパテックオーナーの生の声が聞けて良心的である。
使ってもいないのに記事を書く編集者がほとんどの中、極めて稀な
バイヤーズガイドといえる。第２弾に期待したい。

本当に参考になります。 パテック関係の既存の本は、過去３０~６０年代のモデルばかりを掲載したものばかりで、アンティークのパテックコレクターの方々のために書かれたもの(それでも、ただの販売カタログといったもので、まったく詳しくはありませんが…)でした。

しかし、本書は、現行品(製造中止品も若干含む)のパテックを、１ページ１ページ、モデルごとに色々な角度からの写真と共に説明も付けられており、また、ちょっとした違

いについても語られているところが、大変親切ですし、過去のカタログ、や付属品・アクセサリーも載っていて、とても参考になります。価格は為替の変動をかなり受けやすい時計なので、載せても意味はなく、また本書では特に未掲載です。

また、“パテックフィリップの時計というものの本質”をコラムとして何ページか分けて書かれているところが、購入者しか実感できない生の声といったところで大変興味深いです。

パテックは世界一の高級時計メーカーで、世界中にそのコレクターもロレックスのそれと二分するほど多いそうですが、その需要は当然ロレックスよりも低いのは、価格など色々な意味で当然といえますが、時計ファンの最後に目指すものが、パテックフィリップの時計、という観点からしても、本書は日本人が日本語で書かれた唯一のパテック本

ですが、これがきっかけとなって、現行・アンティークを問わず、続々と刊行されることを期待しております。 そういった意味で本書は、特に現行品のパテック初購入者にとっては、やさしい手引書といえましょう。
