パステル基本用具の説明から、色についてのこと、製作行程も詳しく載っているし、参考作品も解説付きで多数載っています。
パステルっていうと、ふんわりしたものばかりかと思っていたけど、まるで油絵のような作品もできるんだと、初めて知りました。

この本を読むまで、パステルを水やテレピンで溶かしたりできることなんて、全然知りませんでした。
見本付きで、紙の種類やタッチ、混色技法なども載っていて、初めてでも取っ付きやすい本です。

掲載されてる作品も素敵な絵が多く、パステルに対して持っていた概念が覆させられるようです
見やすくて使いやすい、そして分かりやすい。
パステルを始めるなら、持っていて損の無い1冊です！

　内容は副題「パステル画を描くための実用ガイド」の通りの本である。
　必要な用具の集め方から始まり、タッチ、技法の数々の紹介、構図、配色などの基本、そして様々な作品例が、非常に分かりやすく書かれている。

　本書の良いところは、内容だけでなく、レイアウトである。文章は簡潔。サンプルを多く用いるため自分の書き方と比較しながら学べる。そして全てのセクションが見開きページで完結しているので大変に見やすい。

　入門書としても、時々原点に返るための参考書としても使える。決して読者の画法に強烈に影響を与える本ではないが、基礎的な学習用としては非常に有用な書である。
