数年前の話。
遠くに明かりが見えているが、なかなか抜け出せない。
ちょうどそんな時に読んで一気に抜け出した。
今でも鮮明に記憶している。
それから数年経つが毎日視界良好。
人生のターニングポイントに差しかかった方にお勧め。
日々これ楽に楽しく。
そのための準備は怠りなく。
ただし、準備もまたこれも楽しく。

広い部屋も手に入れた。十分な給料をもらえるようになった。いくら使っても赤字になることはなかった。時間さえあれば、欲しい物を見つけに街をさまよった。やがて部屋中に、物があふれ返り、値札の付いたままの洋服、聞かない音楽ＣＤ，見もしないビデオが蓄積されていく。それでも何も私を満足させてくれはしなかった。それどころか、自分を表現する手段を失い、どんどん気持ちが窮屈になっていった。―
その後、私は物を捨てることを知り、自分の物とのかかわり方を知りました。「物欲は私を幸せにしてくれますか？」　この本はそういう一冊です。

30歳台前半の転機の頃に読んだ本と記憶しています。自分の重視すること、重視しないことを改めて考えてみると心が軽くなり、動きが軽快になります。私の場合、この本を読んだ頃から、テレビを見る時間が激減しました。この番組を見ようと意識しないでスイッチを入れることをやめただけですが、朝のニュース以外はほとんど見なくなりました。
