フィンドホーンの事を初めて知った本ですが、良かったです。精霊とか妖精とかファンタジーの世界のものだとしか捉えられなかったのが、この本を読むと現実のものだとして捉えられるんです｡なんせ砂地のような普段植物が育たないところに考えられないような楽園ができちゃうんですから｡こういうことができる人たちって一体どういう人たちなんだろう、って思うけど結構人生波乱万丈なんですね。そういうことを考えさせられる面でも深みがある本ですね。

　冬の寒さの厳しい、スコットランドの乾いた砂漠の中に光り輝くような菜園がある。そこでは多くの種の花や野菜や果物が栽培され、それらは他の土地にも見られないくらい色つやもよく、サイズも大きな生命力に満ちたものだった。
　なぜそんなことが可能だったのか？
　それはそのフォンドホーンの地が特にスピリチュアルなエネルギーの強い場所で、そこで人々が自然のなかのディーバ（精）たちとコンタクトを取り、彼らの力を借りながら築き上げていった場所だったからだ。
　地球は人間のエゴによって毎日毎日破壊されていっている。私たちは自然をもっと尊重しなくてはいけないのではないか。この本を読んで私はそんなことを考えた。毎日ものすごい数の森林を破壊し、動物を殺していくうちにディーバたちの住みかは奪われ、自然のバランスが崩されていっている。
　人間は自然と結びつけばもっと簡単に癒され、楽しみ、幸せを感じることができる。美しい世界は人間がつくらなくてもそこにもうある。この本を読んで私はそんなことも思い出した。

今は有名なフィンドホーンですが、その比較的創生期に近いころの体験を綴った本です。主に70年代の話だそうなので、現在とは全く違うそうですが、そのころの理念や、人々がどのようにここを育ててきたのかという足跡が感じられると思います。興味深いエピソードも多かったです。他のフィンドホーン関係の本を読んで、興味をお持ちの方にお勧めです。
