「あかね市立図書館」という架空の図書館を舞台に、プロの司書の
方々がレファレンス・サービス（図書館職員による調べものお手伝い）の事例
を紹介。「「萌え」という表現はいつ頃から使われるようになったのか？」「ミ
ロのヴィーナスの復元図が見たい」「透明度の一番高い湖は？」など、読んでい
て「なるほど〜！」と感嘆してしまいます。表題から堅いイメージを想像してし
まいますが、内容は読み物としても楽しく、司書さんの日常の奮闘ぶりに「ほの
ぼの」してしまいます。掲載されている漫画・イラストがとても親しみやすく、図
書館が身近に感じられることでしょう。早速、私も近くの図書館に行ってみよう
かな？司書の方も、司書になりたい人も、図書館で昼寝をしている人（笑）も是
非手にとって頂きたい本です。

図書館で働き始めたばかりの頃に購入し、幾度も読み返す教本のようなものです。
調べるコツを学ぶ以上に、図書館司書として、一番大切にしなければならない事を教えてくれた本です。
