本書はインタビュー形式で構成され、質問された建築家はそれに答え、自ら語ると言う場面は少ない。学生が参考になる意見はどのようなことかという点でこの本で明らかにすることは難しい。例えば建築家の立脚点によって意見が異なるからだ。例えば建築の材料の選択に関しても安藤氏と槙氏では異なる。仕事の進め方でも、丹下氏と黒川氏では大分異なる。
　私個人にとっては内藤氏、槙氏、伊藤氏、丹下氏(子)の内容は建築家の建築との関わり方、社会及び環境との関係、公共性に関する考え方、仕事の進め方に関して若い建築家に参考になる意見が散りばめられていたと思う。
　その他の建築家に関しては私見としてはその人が非常に有名であっても、現実に対して悲観的であったり、独善的であったりして、学生には非常に耳障りの良い意見であっても現実に働いている若手建築家には参考にならないと感じる意見も多々見られた。建築家として挑まなくてはならない事柄なども併せて記載してもらえば良かったのではないか。

この本だけでは何ともわかるものもわからないような。
基本はインタビューなのですが、
建築家たちにされる質問は抽象的なものが多いです。
写真は綺麗なのですが、
ちょっとお洒落な本であることにこだわりすぎたのかもしれません。
「職業は建築家―君たちが知っておくべきこと」
という名前の割には何を知りえたのか疑問が残ります。
ただちょっとしたその世界の雰囲気は伝わってくるような気がしましたが、
充実していると言うにはちょっと今一つかもしれません。

ただ、最後に他の建築関係の優良本のガイドがあるので、
それは役に立つかも。
