東京理科大学ゲノム創薬研究センター長を務める編者が
自身の最新の研究成果（といっても刊行から少し時間がたってしまったが）を
含め、ゲノム創薬の今を解説する。

ヒトゲノムの解読が終了し、これから先に求められるのは
集められたゲノム情報をどのように研究に生かすか、
とりわけ医療や創薬の分野にどうやって絡めていくかが鍵となる。
ヒトゲノムという情報をどのようなアプローチから利用するかによって、
当然、ゲノム創薬との絡み方も多種多様となる。
本書では、さまざまな分野の専門家たちが、自身の得意分野を生かし、
いかにしてゲノム創薬に貢献するか、その方法論、そして
実際に現在どのような研究を進めているのかを語っている。
多岐にわたる分野を収録しており、初心者には難解かもしれないが、
ゲノム創薬に少しでも興味があり、実際にどういった研究を
していこうかと考えたいのであればぜひ背伸びしてでも通読してはいかがだろうか。

本書は専門書であり、一般向けではないが、
ゲノム創薬を目指したい大学生・大学院生・若い研究者にとっては
良い指導書になるだろう。
ポストゲノム時代の幕開けの今にふさわしい、良い道しるべとなる一冊だ。
