70年代初頭に活躍した、フォーク・グループ「赤い鳥」が歌って一躍有名になった「竹田の子守唄」。
しかし、いつしかこの歌はメディアから流れなくなり、彼らのベスト盤からも外されていた。
当時この事が不思議でならなかったが、"事実"を歌った岡林信康の「手紙」同様タブー視されたと知ったのは、それから数年後であった。

この本では竹田の子守唄の歌詞に隠された真実。隠蔽されきた事柄が赤い鳥のメンバーの述懐も含めて、生々しく描かれている。
「放送禁止歌」(森達也著)と併せて、その背景にあった(あるいはまだ根付いている)事実について考えさせられる本である。
赤い鳥の同曲および部落解放同盟による元唄など3曲入りのCD付き。

青春時代を振り返りながら、1970年代にあれだけ多くの若者に支持された赤い鳥の「竹田の子守唄」が何故放送禁止になっていったのか、その経緯を知りたいと思うのは当然でしょう。100万枚以上売れて大ヒットした名曲でしたので。

本書の著者、藤田正さんが、「竹田の子守唄」の知られざる背景を丹念に取材して明らかにしていく過程が記されています。そこには部落問題という皆で考えないといけない大事な理由が存在していました。それゆえ、放送局が自主規制をして、次第に放送されなくなってしまいました。
規制の事実というものは、放送局内の者たちが状況を理解しないまま、これらの作品をタブー扱いしたことから端を発したことを知りえましたし、メディアの世界のいい加減さに呆れもしました。

人権を考える経緯になる本だと思いますし、差別の形成過程を知る上でも有用な記載がなされています。知らないですむ話かもしれませんが、知らないといけない話かもしれません。
問題意識をどう持つかで読み取り方が変わると思われますが、この藤田正さんの労作を一人でも多くの方に読んでもらいたいと願っています。

赤い鳥の歌う「竹田の子守唄」以外に「竹田の子守唄（元唄）」等が、附録（ＣＤ）として収録されています。また巻末には、楽譜と歌詞が数点所収されています。

この本にはまりました。読むだけで飽き足らず、解放会館で行われた著者の講演会に参加し、本書付録のCDに入っている「竹田の子守唄の原曲」も聞かせていただきました。胸の奥が打ち震えるような感激を久しぶりに味わいました。差別することの愚かさ、差別されることの悲しさを感じることのできる本です。たくさんの方に読んでいただきたいと思います。
