どう考えても本書のタイトルは「うたう警官」の方がよい。
全編に渡ってそれがテーマになっている。
「笑う警官」ではわけがわからない。ワンマン経営者がどんな
ひらめきを得たのか知らないがおかしな改変をおしつけないで
欲しかった。著者だって断ればいいのに。

北海道警察は一昨年の不祥事にをうけ，人事を刷新する大異動をこの2年間で行った。その結果，地元に精通するベテランの捜査員が不在という状況を作り出している。そんな中，札幌市内のマンションで発見された女性の変死体の身元が，県警本部の女性巡査であることが判明する･･･

個人的に大好きな作者の本である。比べる対象としてはいけないのであろうが，『警官の血』や『制服捜査』などと比較すると，軽い印象を持ってしまった。しかし，多少中盤が中だるみをしてしまった感じがあるが，後半のたたみ掛ける展開はさすがであると感じた。題名が変わったようであるが，私は元の題名のほうが作者のイメージ，本の内容から考えても適当であるような気がしてならなかった。

　私が読んだ佐々木譲さんの作品、2つ目です。
題名の通り警察の物語です。
佐々木さんは北海道の方で、道警の物語です。
これを読んでいると、何となく警察不信になりそうな感じ・・。
内部を告発（証言）する事を警察内の言葉では「うたう」というそうです。
もともと『うたう警官』だったものが、わかりづらいと言う事で『笑う警官』になったそうですが、物語の中ではずっと「うたう」と言う言葉を使っていて「笑う」というくだりはないので、別に「笑う」に替える必要性は感じられませんでしたけど。
どうやら今年の秋には、映画が公開されるらしいですよ。
帯には「映画は原作を超えられるのか。」なんて書いてあるけれど、私としては「超えられるわけないじゃん！」っていう感じ。
