　物理学って、端から見ている分には何もかも理解しているように見えるけれど、実際のトコロは肝心な部分には手が届いてなくて、だからまだ新しい「何か」で補ってあげないといけないんだよ、という話。...と言ってしまえば身もフタもないのかもしれないが、その「何か」に結構説得力があって「それなら宇宙、作れるかも！？」と思わず納得してしまう。...かもしれない。

　強気な態度を崩さない（せない？）「天才」少女と平凡な大学生（男）の何気ない掛け合いも、「天才」故の苦悩と平凡さ故の悩みが交錯するようで、楽しかったり身につまされたり...。

　内容的には「物理」と言っても、科学に少しでも興味がある人なら雰囲気を楽しんで読み進めることが出来ると思う。何か難しい式が出て来る訳じゃなくて、アインシュタイン（特殊相対性理論）のE=mc^2に象徴されるような「世界をシンプルに記述したい」という物理学の願いがこの本には描かれている。その願い──今ある「原理」を越えたところにある想い──を感じることができれば良いんでしょう。きっと。

　第3回小松左京賞受賞作、らしい。自分では掘り出し物の作品だと思っていたら意外に（...失礼）売れているようで、神田の三省堂ではフィクション部門で年間2位だったので、嬉しいような悔しいような...。

人間に宇宙を創造することは可能か？　可能だとすれば何が起きるのか？
クールな冷徹さと完ぺき主義で人類史上初の実験に挑み、立ち止まり、苦悩するヒロインが美しい。
圧倒的な情報量と考証力でハードＳＦの体裁をとりつつも、その内面はもろくて壊れやすい思春期の少女の成長物語とも取れる。

青春小説としても文句なく面白い。アニメ調の表紙も内容の適度な軽さにフィットしていてグー。

舞台の設定は物理学科になっていますが、扱っているのは「物理」です。人類の普遍的テーマとしての現象世界の振舞いを、つきとめたいという欲求、そしてつきとめようという野望が、この小説を支えています。

確かに、物理学上の議論は多く出てきます。こうした議論は慣れの部分が大きいので、わからない人が多いことでしょう。しかし、そうした「わからない」という人にこそ、じっくり取り組んでみることを勧めたい。それで慣れるとまでは言いませんが、機本氏は苦労してよく描いていると思うのです。

もしも、読者が、本を最低限普通に読めるだけの能力のある人であるならば、たとえ「文系だ」という人であっても、叙述から伝えたいことはきっと伝わるはずなのでした。

ですから、私としては、「決して飛ばし読みするな、本を読む愉しみを知っているなら」と言いたい。その価値はあると保証します。

登場人物の性格と行動の描写も、基本的なところをきっちり抑えていて好感がもてました。

「あとがき」で小松氏と機本氏とのやりとりで、「エロスとバイオレンスを求めながら、ぜんぜん出なかった」という機本氏に、小松氏が「『宇宙は作れるか』というのは、実はエロス。そのための仕掛けを作っていく過程はバイオレンスに入ってくる」という言葉の、なんと真実であることでしょうか。
