この本ではディレクターズカット版で新たに追加されたダンジョン・エンディング・新キャラのミラージュ・アドレー、
あと本編４冊では目立たなかったロジャーを中心に書かれています。追加要素はほとんど書けていて本編を上手に補完できていると思います。

小説はゲームと違い、細かい所まで書かれていたり、キャラに人間味があるので、物語をより深く楽しめるのがいいです。
この本では特に新キャラのアドレーがとてもよく書けていると思います。いいキャラなんですがゲーム中ではあまり出番がなかったので、
この本で多く書かれていたのがとてもよかったです。アドレーだけでなく他のキャラもよく書けていてこの本にはとても満足しています。これはオススメです。
しかしこの本には追加部分しか書いていないので、まずは本編４冊を先に読むほうがいいでしょう。

ぶっちゃけ新品で買って損し(ry
1~4も以前に読んでかなりダメ臭がしていたのですが、懲りずに買ったら案の定ハズレでした。
(これを読んでからゲームをプレイするという条件で)ゲームやってない人にはいいかもしれませんが、ゲームをやった人や、これだけ読んでやったつもりになるような人にはお勧めできません。
DC版で追加されたコスチュームチェンジのドタバタも、女性陣だけの扱いかつ例の迷子コンビの店でというかなり無理のある設定。それ以外で置いている店がなさそうで白羽の矢が立ったのでしょうけれど･･･。
コスプレ衣装を選ぶくだりもああ、男性の方が書いてるんだなという感じでなん･･だか･･･な。

ウルザも無理がある設定で、思わずあの高速フェイトを省くなんて実際プレイしてないんじゃないのか？と疑ったくらいです。
(まあ短編だったのでページ制限があったのでしょうが、なんなんだそのミラージュ萌えのマリア萌え的な話はよ、という気分になりましたです)
口調は違うし性格も微妙にゲームと違う。
別物と割り切ってしまえばいいと言われればそれまでなのですが、そしたら何のためのゲームの小説化かと。
忠実なものを求めていたので中途半端なマイ設定が引っかかりました。
