　『闇』たちに『生かされた』エドは、重傷を負って病院送り。
故郷からウィンリィを出張整備に呼び寄せて、冷やかしやら偏食の指摘やらでてんやわんやの中、アルフォンスはNo.66の言葉に心揺れます。

その一連の展開も好きでしたが、この巻では『まさかあの人が…！？』の展開に吃驚です…思わず私も大佐につられて雨に濡れてしまいました…（読めば解かりますよ）

又、兄弟は自分たちの無力さと過去に向き合う為に、錬金術の師に会いに行く事を恐る恐る（←ココ、ポイント：笑）心に決め、成り行きでウィンリィも同行で南部に向かう事になります。まさか、あの人があんな事になっているなんて、考えもせずに…。
ソレを知った時のエルリック兄弟は、きっとまた打ちのめされるのでしょう。

　前巻に!続いて、巻末収録の外伝（？？）では、またも馬鹿騒ぎ（笑）
ホークアイ中尉のお人柄がナイスなお話ですｖｖｖ
そうそう、カバーもめくってね☆

バトルシーンは少なめです。
アルは自分の記憶が人工的に作られたものでないかと悩みます。
エドは何も話しませんでしたが、アルが自分を恨んでいないか
だけが気がかりのようです。
ヒューズ中佐はラストに負けてしまいます。

思い悩むアル、アルを空の甲冑として蘇らせたかつてのエドの涙と、兄弟二人を知り尽くしているウィンリィの涙。「鋼の錬金術師」第４巻は、エルリック兄弟の絆をより強く感じられる巻となっています。
兄弟のエピソードと同時進行で深まるのが、賢者の石研究の深層そしてイシュヴァール戦の真相。その鋭さと聡明さ故に訪れるヒューズの死、そして盟友マスタングの涙…　ヒューズが見抜いた「軍部がヤバイ」事態の重大さと、エンヴィら暗躍する者達の残酷さの際立ちによって今後のさらなる悲劇とを予感させる、大いなる物語の序章です。
