この漫画の魅力の一つは、敵味方関係ナシで見られる独特のノリだと思います。随所にキャラクターのテンポのよさが見られて、それがある意味でこの漫画を救っていることにもなるのではないでしょうか。

テレビアニメのほうを見ていても思ったのですが、もともとすごく重いテーマを扱っているだけに、本当にグロテスクなシーンが多いんですよね。それこそ目を覆いたくなるような残酷なシーンもあります。そこをキャラのコミカルな動きがカバーしないと、少年誌で読む人は少なくなってしまうでしょうね。

表紙の裏やあとがき４こま漫画など、オマケページがふんだんに盛り込まれています。

実際の漫画の内容は、今のところ全巻通して私の一番印象に残った話になるかもしれません。ショウ・タッカーと娘のニーナの章は、人間が錬金術で命を好きなようにするということは愚行なのかいうことについて深く考えさせられました。本当に悲しくて残酷な話です。

しかしその直後、噂の無能大佐が登場（笑）メリハリをつけたノリは見ものです。

冒頭に出てくるショー・タッカー国家錬金術師の合成獣がなんとも恐ろしい。

人と犬を合成することにより、人語を解する獣を作りだすなどありがちに思えるが、

荒川さんの手にかかると全く格の違う漫画になってしまうようです。

次々に新手の錬金術師が出てきて、ストリー展開がやや早すぎるようにすら感じますが、

全く息をつく間もないとはこのことでしょう。今、ガンガン読んでいます。

『錬金術は等価交換によって成り立つ』

錬金術における禁忌、『人体練成』に失敗し
弟アルは身体を、エドは片足…そして弟の魂蘇生の為更に片腕を失った。
あるべき肉体を戻すべく、手がかり『賢者の石』を求めて旅する二人。

今回は重要キャラ多数登場(特に軍の国家錬金術師）
焔の錬金術師、ロイ・マスタング大佐や、

豪腕の錬金術師、アレックス・ルイ・アームストロング中佐。
そして錬金術師を滅しようとする謎の『傷の男(スカー)』
暗躍する怪しい人物ラストとグラトニー。
他にも注目キャラクター多数登場！

この巻にある綴命の錬金術師ショウ･タッカー氏と娘のニーナの話があるんですが、
錬金術の力と、その人によっての命の価値と意味を考えさせられました。

やるせない話だと!思いましたが、もの凄く印象深い話だと思いました。
