本書はコンパクトで短時間に読めるのが良いと思いました。
160ページ程度で、1:多のリレーション付きテーブルの使い方、セッション管理の仕方が学べました。
テスト駆動方式で開発するというシナリオで、そこに慣れるのがちょっとたいへんでしたが
それ以外は苦労して行間を読むようなこともありませんでした。
オブジェクト指向の基礎とRDBの概念が分かっていて、短時間でレイルズのことを知りたいなら
とても良い本だと思います。

Railsをやるなら「RailsによるアジャイルWebアプリケーション開発」はかならず持っているべきですが、残念ながらあちらは製作の実例が充実していません。この本はその捕捉として、製作の実況中継をわかりやすく解説してくれています。製作の実例に特化しているといえます。
ですから、上記のメイン本のサブとして買うといいと思います。

これは面白い本。Rubyの言語を知らなくても書いてある通りにソースを書いたりコマンドを実行したりして行けばすこしづつアプリケーションが出来上がって行く。プログラミングの楽しさを感じる事が出来る。（もちろん初心者は何度もつまづくと思う。）Railsの簡単さがとてもよくわかる本。Railsの雰囲気を味わう為の入り口として絶好の本です。但しRubyonRailsが動作する環境はWindows,Unix,MacOSXなど様々な環境が存在し、使用するデータベースもいくつか種類があるため本の内容通りに事が運ばないケースもある。そういう意味では初心者には辛い面もある。で結局Railsって何なの？というプログラミングをおぼえるというよりは知識としてRailsについて知りたいという方にもおすすめ。

Rubyの入門書としてお勧めできる内容だと思います。プログラミング経験者にはちょっと優しく感じるかもしれませんね。
