　今回はリンの谷から海辺の国マリスへ。まさか１，２巻でちらっと解説があったマリスの民が半漁人（失礼！）とは・・・！。三つの氏族が反目し合う異文化の人々の中で「水晶の司」の選任役としての重責を担いながらも母を救うべく，毒消しの処方箋を求めて冒険するローワン。巧みな伏線とテンポのよい話運びは変わらず。もしかして今回のテーマは異文化交流？と思わせるような節も。侵略者ゼバックの影も巻ごとに近づいてきて・・・。どこから読んでもいいとは解説の方もかいていますが，やはり巻を追うごとに成長するローワンと版図が広がる世界を楽しむには順を追って読まれる方がよいと思います。先祖の侵略者との戦いがもしかして再び起こるのか？！今後の展開が楽しみ。

ローワンシリーズは、是非とも子供に読ませたい本の一つです。

この物語は単なるハッピーエンドものではありません。
読者をハラハラドキドキさせ時に不安にさせてくれます。
子供たちに真の友情とは、愛とはを実感させてくれます。
そして、読み終わった後には生きる希望を与えてくれる読み物だからです。

また登場人物の描き方に男女差別が全くない点がとても気に入っています。

このシリーズの三作を通じて感じるのは、
ローワンが常に人間を信じようとしているところ、
そして、何よりも自分の判断や直感を信じようとがんばるところ、
そこがローワンという少年の一番の力なのかな、ということです。

今回は、馴染み深いリンの村を離れて、

しかも、まったく自分とは違う民族のそれぞれ対立する種族の代表者とともに、冒険をしなければなりません。
今回は本当に一人ぼっちです。

けれど、今回の旅でローワンは大きく成長します。
なかなか、しっかりしないいつまでもぐずぐずしていた彼ですが、
そろそろやっと、自分の力に気づいてきたみたい。
今後が楽しみです。
