リンの村の家畜バクシャー係のローワン。竜が住む山をめざし旅立つ。
最後に頼りになるのは臆病なローワン。

長い間、自分の道を歩いていれば、いつか社会の役に立つかもしれない。

風景は人によって思い浮かべる土地が違うかもしれない。
北欧を思い浮かべるか、東北を思い浮かべるか。

どんな風景にも合いそうなのんびりとしながら、過酷な自然との戦いの物語。

ps.
第二回本屋のオヤジのおせっかい、中学生はこれを読め！対象作品。

主人公は、かなり控えめな到底ファンタジーの世界の勇者とは程遠い性格の少年。
それとは逆に旅の仲間はそれこそファンタジーの定番のような屈強な大人達。

少年は始めは一緒に旅をするというより、大人達にくっついていくという感じですが、次第にそれが・・・！

少年の動物を愛する優しい心と強い思いやりの心が徐々に物語を進めていきます。

子供にも読みやすい文章量と内容です。

自他共に認める臆病な少年ローワン。 彼の住む村が生活用水として利用している川の水が急激に減り始めた。 原因を調べて元通りにしないと村が干上がってしまう！ 　 　ファンタジーにしては薄く、一見よくある児童書ですが 一度読み始めると一気に世界に入りこみ、読み終わった後は本の薄さと内容の深さに驚かされます。

主人公のローワンをはじめ、キャラクター一人一人に好感を持てます。 　児童書ですからサラッと読めますしかわいらしいお話なのでどんな年齢でも楽しめると思います。
