自分の高校時代を思い出す人もいるでしょうし、
こういった高校生活に憧れる人もいるでしょう。
私はどちらかと言えば後者でしたが、読後感もすっきりしていて楽しく読めました。
非常に面白い設定で、一種特殊な、ありそうにもなさそうにも思える高校ですが、高校など閉鎖された空間ですのでこのようなものなのかもしれないですね。

『これは王国のかぎ』の続編と知らずしても、
この本だけで独立しているので抵抗なく読めます。
読み終わって、ヒロミの過去が知りたくなったので今は『これは王国のかぎ』の方を読んでいますが、
『これは~』と比べるとこの本は登場人物のキャラクター設定が薄いような気がします。
純粋なファンタジーと、現実を舞台にした話のキャラクターを比べるなどという横着なことが許されるのならですが(^_^;)

それでも十分楽しみながら読むことができました。
自分の高校時代と比べて、羨ましがりながら、懐かしがりながら読めた一冊です。

荻原規子さんといえば、やはり『勾玉三部作』が代表作だと思いますが、この『樹上のゆりかご』もまた素晴らしい作品です。

前出の作品と打って変わって、登場人物たちはみな「現実世界」に生きる高校生たち。学園サスペンスとも言うべき作風ですが、それでも荻原さんが紡ぎ出す独特の世界観は、二次元にも三次元にも納まりきらないような気がします。読んでいて、「現実」と「非日常」を行き来しているような、とても不思議な感覚に包まれます。（私は女子校育ちなので、主人公ヒロミの感覚に近付くのに少し苦労はしましたが。）

作品に出てくる『サロメ』の解釈もなかなかワイルドで興味深いです。ちなみに、この作品によって聖書に興味を持たれた方には、聖書の中の『マタイによる福音書14:1-12』『マルコによる福音書6:14-29』を開いてみることをオススメします。（違った解釈が生まれるかも知れないので。）

確かに『これは王国のかぎ』の続編を期待して読むと肩すかしをくったような気分になってしまうかもしれません。でもやっぱり『樹上のゆりかご』は『これは王国のかぎ』の完結編であったな、とじわじわ納得してしまうのも事実です。

どうぞ「現実世界」と「非日常世界」に生きる高校生たちの心の旅路をご堪能あれ！！

中学のときに「薄紅天女」に出会ってからほかの荻原作品も読みたいなと思っていたところ、高校の図書館で勾玉三部作に出会い、大学の付属図書館で運命的に出会ったのがこの本です。

今までの荻原作品とは違う、学園物です。だけど、サロメや、マザーグースなどの文学作品が作中に出てくることがエッセンスになってファンタジーを思い起こさせるかもしれません。

とにかく共感するところが多くて、大学生になった今でも読んでると高校生に戻りたくなります。主人公はこれは王国のかぎのひろみちゃんとつながってるようだけど、そんなに関連性はないと思います。作中でも回想シーンがあるけど思い出せない。夢だけど夢じゃなかったって感じかな？
登場人物も見渡せば近くにいそうです。鳴海くんは別とし!て（笑）
