ごく普通の、失恋もすれば自分にいらだちもする中学生ひろみが、究極のどん底気分のなかで、
ビンから飛び出た魔神族として、突如アラビアンナイトの世界に巻き込まれるという物語。
初めて読んだときはひたすらに主人公に共感して楽しく読み、
ひろみの年齢をはるかに越えた今では、ひとりの女の子の成長ものとして興味深く読めます。
魔神としての活躍は何度読んでも楽しく、心踊るのに、最後は少し切なくなる。
中学生の目を通して描かれるアラビアの砂漠や都も、新鮮でかなり魅力的です。

個人的には、続編（しかしファンタジーではない）「樹上のゆりかご」でのひろみの成長ぶりというか、
現実との落とし前のつけ方が大好きです。
魅力的な世界で、出会いと別れを経験したひろみが、それでも魅力的な現実に生きている。
長いファンタジーの終わりに、主人公があるべきところに帰るように、
ひろみもあるべきところに帰ったのだと、そういうことのように思えます。

それにしても、ハールーンはさすが物語のヒーロー、という感じですね。
最後の最後まで面白いのはさすがです。

荻原規子さんの本は大好きなのですが、この本も例外なく大好きです。
字がいっぱいで読めないって人にはお勧めです。
一人称で、主人公がいない場面はあらわれてないですけど、
臨場感溢れてるし、主人公、ジャニの憤る気持ちとか、
どうしようもない、居たたまれない気持ちとか、すっごく分かって、
読み終わった後に、叫びたくなる作品です。

何回読んでもいい。
読むたびにいい。

とくにハールーンが大好き。
個人的な意見ですが、終わった後に切なさが残って本当大好きです。

一番何回も読み直した作品です。
失恋からファンタジーの世界に入ってしまう主人公。
一人称で描かれているからか、とても親近感が湧きます。
正に自分が主人公になったかのような錯覚を起こしそうで。

いろんな人が、主人公と関わっていくのだけれど
誰もが素敵な一面を持っていて
キャラクターの性格とか細かいところも素晴らしい！

アラビアンナイトの世界が背景にあるからか、
単なるファンタジーとは思えないところもいいと思います。
