なんと魅力的なタイトルでしょう。もちろん本書は野球の入門書ではないし、
ホームランを打つことだけが野球の目的でもない。
ただ、ホームランは、他のスポーツにはない特別な達成感があることは確か。

もし、あなたが何かに向かって努力しているなら、自身の夢をホームランに
置き換えて、本書を読んでみてください。

ホームランはおろかヒットさえ打てない少年。
少年を見守りながら自分も夢を追い続ける青年。
ホームランを打つために努力を怠らないプロ選手。

野球にかかわる様々な視点を通し、夢に向かって前進する人へ
熱いエールを送る　そんな絵本なのだ。

もし君が野球が大好きで，でも練習してもなかなかヒットが打てなかったり，ましてやホームランなんか絶対無理！と思っているとしたら…。

そして，イチローや松井にあこがれるけど，でも「イチローや松井にはなれないよなぁ」と思っているとしたら…。

この本を読んで欲しい。

そして，野球が好きなすべての大人にも，読んで欲しい。
特に我が子，我が孫に野球をさせようと思っているお父さん，お母さん，おじいちゃん，おばあちゃん，みんなが読んで欲しい。
大げさかもしれないが，この本には，野球の醍醐味とエッセンスがつまっている。
絵本だからと侮るなかれ。

何が出来るのか、何をすればいいのか。
そんなことを語りかけてくれる本だと思います。
厳しいけれども、決して暗くはないだろう未来が開けている予感で終わっているところが
子どもに勧めたい理由のひとつです。
