社会科学研究にとってこれを知らなきゃ始まらない具体的な研究法（数理演繹法、意味解釈法等）等を、かなり分かりやすく網羅してあります。他にコラムや特論といった形で、知識の補強ができるようになっており、大学院生などの研究初心者は是非一読の価値があるでしょう。

　まずこれを読んだ後に、自分のリサーチクエスチョンにあった研究法を選び、さらに詳しい専門書を読むべきです。参考になる専門書等の紹介ももちろんしてあります。
　お勧めです。

大学生向けにしては難しすぎる内容の章が多く、大学院生向けであれば、それぞれのチャプターにおける方法論の説明はあまりに不十分だ。結局それぞれの分野の入門書を一冊一冊読まざるを得ないだろうし、現にそうしていると思われる。「学問の方法」に焦点をあてた、と言う割には、それぞれの執筆者が別の方法で手に入れているような高度な知識で勝手に補われており、この本で研究法が学べるとも思えない。そのため誰にとってもお勧めできないような本になってしまっている。ただしpp.114-115の見開きで広田が書いている、ある論文をひとつ完成させるために、実際に彼がどのように情報を集めていったか、という記録は、学問をする人間としての覚悟や姿勢を学ぶ上で強い感銘を受けた。もし全編がこういった内容、すなわち、ある学問的成果を挙げるために実際にどのような作業が行われたか、という記録になっていたら、きっと大学院生たちにとても役に立っただろうと思われる。

　日本を代表する社会学者たちの競演よりなる社会学入門書である。執筆者を見て本当に驚いた。内容を読んでまた、驚いた。すごくいい本である。おそらく、編者の今田高俊氏の「自己組織性」を原理として編まれた本であるが、実に読後感がいい。意味解釈法、統計帰納法、数理演繹法の３つの研究法から構成されている。実にバランスがいい。考える主体として立ち上がるきっかけを提供してくれる。他の入門書にはない社会学することの魅力を十部予感させてくれる良書である。こんなすぐれた教科書で社会学を勉強したらきっとすばらしい社会学的センスが身につくだろうなあと感じた次第である。一流の本を読んだ後にだけ味わえる高級な後味の残るお奨めの一書である。
