本書では、各判例ごとに、
　1「事実の概要」、2「判旨」、3「解説」
が記載されています。
判例そのものの概要及び裁判所の考えを知りたい場合は、12を読めばいいでしょう。
更に、その道の専門家の方の意見も併せて知りたい場合は3も読むといいでしょう。
字が小さいページも多く、思ったよりもボリュームがありますので、

各自の目的にしたがって使い分けるといいと思います。

かなり古い判例も掲載されていますので、最新の動向だけを知りたい方は、全部読む必要はないと思います。

特許関係ではきちんとした判例集が少ないので、本書は貴重な情報源になるかと思います。

特許法に関する本は多々ありますが、最低限の知識がある方には判例百選がお薦めです。買って損は無い本だと思います。
特許法に関する主要な論点が判例と共に網羅されており、それに関する学説も分かりやすく解説されています。個人が書いた解説書と異なり一つの学説に偏ることなく多角的な視点から検討がなされ、入門書として安心です。
ただ、個々の判例の検討が中心ですので体系的な面には欠けます。また、判例に付随して解説が付されているので、重要な論点でも判例がないものについての解説はありません。簡単な体系書を１冊読み終えてから本書を読むと理解が深まると思います。また、大学の特許法の試験対策本としても有用です。
